direcNIC.com and Mass Exodus... no visible looting from here today

Pictures taken on September 1, 2005 by 10:00 am.

See http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/ for details about our struggle to operate our business in New Orleans during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

Disclaimer: These pictures are displayed almost exactly as they came from the camera, no time or ability to have them color corrected, no time to rotate all the pictures, sorry the goal is to just get them out as fast as possible to disseminate information. A very few of the pictures have comments due to time constraints.

The following batch of pictures were all taken very early in the morning.  Then I spent most of the rest of the day focused on matters for our generator. See http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/ for details.

In pictures of this car from the day before or so the tires on this car were looted. The looter then proceeded to open the trunk. The looter had one flat tire on his car. He threw the other three tires in his vehicle.

Look closely in the back seat of this vehicle. You are looking at perhaps the only pressed and cleaned police uniform left in New Orleans. Without electricity and with the horrendous living and working conditions the uniforms are no longer uniform.

In New Orleans you always hear that you should stock up on supplies like garbage bags before hurricanes hit. So do like this guy and make sure to have garbage bags ready if a hurricane is heading your way!

After a hurricane you will sometimes want to wear flip flops and sometimes you will want boots. Make sure to pack both. I never wear boots. If I had some now I would be putting them to use.
